The Illinois Association of Minorities in Government was founded and incorporated in November 1987. The purpose of the organization is to actively bring about implementation of existing equal opportunity laws and to challenge government officials in areas of unfair employment practices.
The Illinois Association of Minorities in Government works as an advocate on behalf of minority employees for jobs, promotions, job retention and protection against discriminatory acts.
The Illinois Association of Minorities in Government (IAMG) is a non-partisan, non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality and future of minority employees in government. IAMG represents a statewide membership, with a 15-member board of directors, an executive director and staff.
Each year IAMG conducts a "State of the State of Minorities in Government conference." We provide employee training, professional development, and networking opportunities for members. Other IAMG activities include a quarterly newsletter and Open Houses, We will be
providing a more interactive Web-site in the very near future.
